From Playground Fun to Playground Confidence

Little Legends builds the foundation through play. Jr. Forge builds the confidence to stand strong against bullies.

Why Kids Need Martial Arts

Building Strong Kids Starts Early

At 4 years old, your kid needs to learn how to follow instructions, move their body, and build confidence through play. At 10, they need to know how to handle bullies without becoming one themselves.

At The Forge, we meet kids where they are:

Little Legends (Ages 4-8) learn through games and fun. They’re building coordination, listening skills, and the foundation for martial arts – without even realizing they’re learning.

Jr. Forge (Ages 9-12) gets real. They’re learning:

  • How to handle bullies – verbally and physically, without becoming the aggressor
  • How to respect authority – while standing up for themselves
  • How to focus and commit – skills that transfer to school and life
  • How to defend themselves – when words don’t work

We’re not creating tournament champions (though that’s a bonus if they want it). We’re creating kids who walk with confidence, speak with respect, and refuse to be victims.

Our Kids Programs

Little Legends

Ages 5-9

Class Times:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 5:00 PM – 5:30 PM

What They Learn:

  • Basic kicks, blocks, and punches (taught through games)
  • Balance, coordination, and motor skills
  • Following instructions and focusing
  • Taking turns and respecting others
  • Confidence through small wins

Our Approach:

This is martial arts disguised as playtime. We keep it short (30 minutes), high-energy, and fun. Kids learn basic techniques through games like “freeze tag with kicks” and “ninja obstacle courses.” They don’t know they’re learning discipline, focus, and self-control – they just know they’re having fun.

Every class ends with a “superhero moment” where they practice one move and get praised for trying hard. We’re building the foundation here: confidence, coordination, and a love of training.

Perfect For:

Kids who need structure, confidence building, or a healthy outlet for energy. Also great for shy kids who need encouragement or high-energy kids who need to learn focus.

Parent Note:

Don’t expect perfection at this age. Expect giggles, effort, and gradual improvement. We celebrate progress, not perfection.

Jr. Forge

Ages 9-12

Class Times:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 5:30 PM – 6:15 PM

What They Learn:

  • ITF Taekwondo forms and techniques
  • Anti-bullying strategies: verbal and physical
  • Practical self-defense that actually works
  • How to stand up for themselves without becoming the bully
  • Confidence, discipline, and respect

Our Approach:

This is where training gets serious. We’re teaching real martial arts and real anti-bullying skills. Kids learn when to walk away, when to use their words, and when (as a last resort) to defend themselves physically.

The anti-bullying curriculum is built into every class:

  • Awareness: Recognizing bullying situations before they escalate
  • Assertiveness: Setting boundaries with confidence, not aggression
  • De-escalation: Using words to defuse situations
  • Physical defense: Last-resort techniques if everything else fails
  • Support systems: When and how to get adult help

We also teach traditional ITF Taekwondo, work toward belt promotions, and build real martial arts skills. But the foundation is this: we teach kids to be strong, not aggressive. Confident, not cocky. Defenders, not bullies.

Perfect For:

Kids who face bullying, need confidence, want to learn real self-defense, or are ready for structured, focused training. Also great for competitive kids who want to work toward belt ranks and test their skills.

Parent Note:

We take anti-bullying seriously. Your kid will learn to handle situations the smart way – de-escalation first, defense only when necessary. We’re not teaching kids to fight. We’re teaching them not to be victims.

Anti-Bullying Curriculum

The Anti-Bully Blueprint

Bullying is real. Telling kids to “just ignore it” doesn’t work. Neither does teaching them to fight first and ask questions later.

Our anti-bullying curriculum is integrated into every Jr. Forge class. We teach kids the hierarchy of response:]

Level 1 - Awareness:

Recognize bullying situations early. Read body language. Spot escalation before it happens. Avoid bad situations when possible.

Level 2 - Assertiveness:

Use confident body language and clear words. "Stop. I don't like that." Set boundaries without aggression. Most situations end here.

Level 3 - De-Escalation:

Verbal strategies to defuse tension. When to walk away. When to use humor. When to involve authority. The goal is always to avoid physical confrontation.

Level 4 - Physical Defense:

Last resort only. Simple, effective techniques to create space and escape. We teach kids to defend and disengage - not to "win a fight."

Level 5 - Reporting:

When and how to get adult help. Building support systems. Understanding the difference between "snitching" and protecting yourself or others.

The Core Message:

We teach kids to be strong, not aggressive. To stand up for themselves and others. To handle 90% of situations without fighting – and to have the skills to handle the other 10% if they have no choice.

Real Talk for Parents:

Your kid will learn techniques that could hurt someone. We take that responsibility seriously. Every physical technique is paired with discussions about when (and when NOT) to use it. We’re building protectors, not fighters.

What Parents Can Expect

What Happens in Class?

  • Warm-up games and movement
  • Technique instruction through play
  • Character-building activities (sharing, listening, trying hard)
  • Fun drills that don't feel like work
  • End with a "superhero moment" and high-fives

Expectation: Focus on fun, fundamentals, and building a love of training. Progress is gradual. Celebrate effort over perfection.

  • Structured warm-up and conditioning
  • Traditional ITF Taekwondo technique and forms
  • Anti-bullying scenario discussions
  • Partner drills and controlled contact (age-appropriate)
  • Cool-down with character discussion or anti-bullying lesson

Expectation: Serious training with measurable progress. Kids work toward belt promotions based on skill, effort, and character - not just showing up.

Both programs use belt ranking systems. Students advance based on skill development, effort, and character. We don't hand out belts for attendance - kids earn them through real progress.

All training is age-appropriate and supervised. Contact is controlled. Safety equipment required when applicable. Little Legends has minimal contact; Jr. Forge introduces controlled partner work.

You're welcome to watch any class. In fact, we encourage it - especially for Little Legends. You'll see exactly what your kids are learning and how they're progressing.
